I agree. But, Thornton says he loved Westerns growing up, especially Spaghetti Westerns. And what are Westerns if not reflections of colonisation? While some are calling this an ‘Outback Western’ (though set in the 1920s), Thornton calls it a ‘cowboy period film’. He says he tried to reinvent his own weird version of the genre and give it a unique voice. He appears to have succeeded.

This is indeed an “Indigenous Cinema Milestone” Sophia. Its a shame we have to tag it with a Hollywood genre label like “Western”.
