In Culver City, the arrival of media giants Amazon, Beats, HBO, Maker Studios, and Sony mean that the little community Harry Culver founded in 1917 lives to fight another day. – Hadley Meares, L.A. Curbed 2019. Also: Amazon to buy MGM Hollywood Studio.
I always though Culver was a place. Never knew it was named after the founder. Shows how little I know.

I was particularly interested in Lucille Ball’s history as a studio head, briefly mentioned here. 🙂

I live right by this.. I can walk here if I needed to.. it’s like a mile maybe 1.5mi but I remember Culver City when I first moved to LA in the 90’s, had literally nothing. The little downtown area was it. it’s so huge now. and the traffic let’s you know that. hahahahahahah
