Even in 2017 we are still learning that there is a difference between marketing via media and narrative storytelling via media. Both have fictional aspects. 🙂
I’m not pointing fingers, but some high-profile women in pop culture do not help the stereotypes. Yet, then again, they wouldn’t be high-profile figures if the masses didn’t buy into the hype. So there’s that.
